South Charlotte Rookie Machine Pitch

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
South Charlotte Rec Association provides a rookie machine pitch division. This division is for 5 and 6yr old players based on age as of 4/30/2022.  Younger players will allowed to play up only if they get the approval of the rookie machine pitch coordinator. This age group will play by the same rules as the older machine pitch division, but will have the machine throw the ball at slower speed. The focus will be on developing good fundamental baseball skills. Along with the baseball skills there will be a focus on teaching the concepts of good sportsmanship, team work, and work ethic.
Due to our desire to keep teams reasonably competitive, we hold evaluations and have a player draft at this age group and we cannot guarantee all requests. If you have any questions, contact Amadeo Ferreira at .

Sport Fee: $240 Fee includes Uniform (Jersey, Hat and a Belt), field rental and maintenance, lights , umpires and Trophies for Post Tournament 1st and 2nd Place teams.  Participation awards are no longer provided.

EQUIPMENT:
SC Provides: Jersey, Cap, and a Belt.
Required equipment: Bat, batting helmet, baseball glove, baseball pants, protective athletic cup (for male players). While SCRA does not REQUIRE helmets to be equipped with a protective facemask, the league recommends such equipment.
Recommended equipment: rubber cleats (no metal cleats allowed)

SEASON:
Until games begin, teams can expect to practice one time during the week (after 5:30 pm) and once on a weekend. On Sundays, no event will occur before 12:00 pm. Once games begin, teams will have a practice during the week and a game on weekends (typically Saturday). An occasional weeknight game may be necessary.
If a Saturday game gets rained out, the make-up game could be played on Sunday afternoon.
