South Charlotte 8U Modified Coach Pitch
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
South Charlotte Recreation Association provides 8U Modified Coach Pitch as an introductory-level program for our younger players. Players should be 7 or 8 years old as of December 31, 2021.
Registration Fee: $225.
EQUIPMENT:
Uniforms: SCRA provides jersey, socks and belt. Pants are be purchased on your own and will be navy.
Required equipment: Softball glove, softball bat, batting helmet (with cage), and fielding face-mask.
Recommended equipment: Rubber cleats. Metal cleats are not allowed.
SEASON:
If there are enough players to form more than one team, teams will be formed following player evaluations. Spring practices begin in mid to late February with the Spring season ending tournament finishing in late May. Fall practices begin mid-August with the Fall season ending tournament finishing in early November. 8U weekday games begin at 6pm, usually finishing by 7:30. Weekend games are all played during the day mostly on Saturdays. All teams have 10 regular season games and participate in a post-season double elimination tournament.

Introduction to fastpitch softball. All girls begin to hit off girl pitchers. There will be 3 kid-pitch innings. Batters will begin with a 1-0 count (1 ball) in all kid-pitch innings. Coach pitches when four balls have been pitched to batter. No batters walk. Coaches pitch to all girls beginning in inning 4.
